Message from VP Tominaga: October 1, 2020

Good evening Kanoelani Families. This is VP Tominaga and I have two reminders for you tonight.

First reminder is to complete the Parent Teacher conference survey by 10/2/20. You can find the survey on our school website and also through the Seesaw account. Filling out the survey will help us to schedule your teacher conference on a preferred date. Thank you parents for your assistance with filling out the survey by tomorrow.

Second reminder is for Grades 1-6, please come and pick up school supplies tomorrow from 8:00-3:00 and Saturday 8:00-noon. Parent we need your help to pick up supplies since we will be continuing to learn from home mode until the end of 2nd quarter.

As quarter one comes to an end tomorrow October 2nd, we want to wish everyone a safe and fun Fall break! The second quarter will start on October 12th. Please continue to practice Unity, Patience, and Serenity. Thank you and goodnight.

Good afternoon everyone,
This is Principal Kunihisa with a brief update. The water has been restored on campus and school will resume as usual tomorrow Friday, Sept 25, 2020.

Thank you for your patience this morning as we responded to this unexpected event. I want to bucket fill our entire faculty and staff and all of you parents and students for demonstrating unity, patience, and serenity even in this situation. For a quick video message, please see the announcements in Seesaw that was just shared. I am blessed to be a part of such an awesome Waipio community. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Parent Teacher Conference Survey: Due Oct 2

Parent-Teacher Conferences for this first quarter will be scheduled from November 4, 2020 to November 10, 2020. All conferences will be virtual meetings with your child's teacher, so more information will be forthcoming. On conference days school will be ending at 12:30pm.

All parents are encouraged to participate in this very important activity, and to review your child(ren) progress through the first quarter.

Conferences begin at 12:45pm on each day and are 15 minutes in length. If at all possible, children from the same family are scheduled on the same day.

Please complete the scheduling form below by Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Kanoelani Elementary will begin Quarter 2 in Full Distance Mode. We may possibly begin to transition students back to school in a slow, strategic method. More information will come prior to any type of opening. We will communicate future plans and will prioritize safety for all.

Message from Principal Kunihisa: Friday, September 18, 2020

Good evening Kanoelani Families -

This is Principal Kunihisa with some updates. As you have seen on the news, there have been some updates regarding Quarter 2. This message will give you some information about our school plan.

Quarter 2 will begin as distance learning in the same mode we are in right now. Currently, the majority of our students are learning at home, with a select group of vulnerable students on campus.

IF we have any changes, it will be a slow transition and all parents will still have the option to continue to learn at home for the entire quarter and remain with their classmates.

Kanoelani is gathering family input as we work towards returning students to campus. This form is to share your preference only - this is NOT a learning model decision for families. The results from this survey will be used for planning purposes only.

Prior to any changes, we will host informational sessions in advance and communicate the plan clearly. In these sessions we will review our Safety Handbook and Operating Guidelines. Rest assured, it will be a well thought out, strategic way to reintroduce students back to school in person with safety as the top priority.

Please fill out the form posted today on our website, IG and Seesaw accounts no later than Friday, September 25, 2020. Thank you! Enjoy your weekend and remember to practice Unity, Patience, and Serenity.
